Christianity in America? Does it Really Exist?

Most familiar with this blog are more than aware of my gripe with the Roman Catholic Bureaucracy but this post takes the decline of Christianity in America to a whole new level that now includes the American Lutheran's.

Now remember, one is not to shoot the messenger,,,,,,,

About Gustavus   Gustavus Adolphus College is a highly selective, private, coeducational, residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Founded in 1862, it has valued its Lutheran and Swedish heritages throughout its history. The college is guided by five core values: community, excellence, faith, justice, and service. Gustavus celebrates its Sesquicentennial (150 years) in 2011–12.

Gustavus Freshman Orientation,,,,,

Before classes even start at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN, freshman students are exposed to a series of orientation and thought reform activities to help them become more acquainted with the “college life.”

Featured today are a few clips from the “Inside Scoop,” an event during orientation that makes it on the “mandatory” schedule for incoming Gustavus students.

It contains a series of clips featuring extremely sexually suggestive theatrics which explain to incoming students such things as where to get free condoms on campus and how to signal to your roommate that you are busy having sex (so he waits until later to come in).

Was that not clear enough?????????????????

Your turn, fire away if you do not believe that Christianity is being destroyed in America no matter the human name given to your chosen Church.

Most Christian's (that claim the Faith) limit their discussions to the public square as in Christmas displays and such but completely ignore their own backyard.

No man-made religion be it Christian in theme but human by nature can or will claim me as a member until such time they pick up their garbage! The teachings of Jesus Christ are being lost on this Nation.

God Bless the USA? We can only pray.

God Help the USA? Well God only helps those who help themselves so let us clean up our frickin' garbage and soon!

p.s., Transparency is best achieved without walls, but YouTube sure helps in that regard!

Christopher . .  I've a few issues with the Catholic Church as you do. No matter. Nothing related to these ridiculous YouTubes. Isn't it inspiring to see what our colleges and universities are approving? The kids can't read and write but they sure know how to have sex.

I am what you might call a lapsed Christian. My parents got me started as a Methodist and then moved to California where we all became Presbyterians. All except me. I was okay until I found out what a terrific business churches are. Then I began to be a little sceptical about miracles. My feeble brain demanded logical answers and I found none. As I studied further and read countless books I began to doubt much of what I'd been taught in church.

I remain a firm believer in a single Supreme Being (God), but a doubting Christian. I think of Christ as a wonderful, charismatic, teacher and spokesman (prophet if you will) for the  Supreme Being. I find it hard to accept the Trinity, and therefore should not, I suppose, still consider myself a Christian. But I do.

Now, here in 2010, Christianity is fading and Sex and money have taken over. Why? Is this a good thing? Where is this road going to take humanity? Is it really necessary not to allow Christianity to be on stage at a college - but to allow Sex and money portrayed as the ideal goal of the life experience?

Personally, I suspect the political correctness of this thinking is destroying the essence of Christianity and most other peaceful, contemplative religions - and sex and money is filling the void. Sad ain't it.

"God Help the USA? Well God only helps those who help themselves so let us clean up our frickin' garbage and soon!" Exactly! That is why many in the Catholic Church (including myself) are fighting liberalism within the Catholic Church and bringing back traditional Catholicism one step at a time.  I agree that many Catholic colleges aren't espousing true Catholic moral values.  But, this is 5X times worse than anything I've ever seen at imitation Catholic colleges.

I wonder if the parents saw these videos before they sent their children off because I doubt the Christian parents around here would have sent their kids there.

I have learned there are some very interesting churches across the country. One church took the cake had me fleeing. I literally pushed the Bouncer looking ushers out of my way and ran at top speed to my car with my son in tow. My son ribbed me for ages about my fleeing, but now he said he would flee from that church too.

Bump,

Your last paragraph sums it up for me as well.

This post is more about hypocrisy of those who claim to be Christian or put another way; do as I say, not as I do. I hold all Christians feet to the fire on this no matter what human created denomination they wish to call it.

Do what one will behind closed doors but for Gods' sake to not promote it in His name let alone in an educational setting,,,higher learning my ass!

Angel,,By no means have I ever lost my Faith in Jesus, humans on the other hand claiming the same,,,well not so much.

The reason I framed that statement as such is that is all we can do is pray for His Blessings. We cannot invoke it, demand it but rather earn it as I am sure you are fully aware, just wanted to clear that up.

Teresa,,, I wish you and those like you much success in that endeavor but remind you the Church is slow to move (think Galileo).

If you ever succeed in our lifetime on Earth, you may just find me sitting in a pew right next to you.

Supi,,, My guess is that they may not have seen videos but knew of the program.

And wow, what a story on that 'church'? I cannot say I ever ran from a Church and cannot imagine what was going on there but it does not sound very Christian at all to make one flee.

What is sad about this is the extent to which Christianity is attacked from its own supposed ranks.

Christopher said...

I get your drift Dan but I would not say these people are 'attacking' Christianity but rather out and out ignoring its teachings if ever they heard them that is. Even worse yet they claim the Faith to cover their perversion.

This is not just an insult to God and Christ which would be bad enough for them in the spiritual realm, but I dare say an act of fraudulent advertising punishable by law right here on Earth.
