We still have a current congress in control of socialists and we are far from real danger. There are economists (real ones) warning of the stock market crashing pending on what happens should the socialists raise taxes across the board. Yes, that is what they are, a TAX HIKE!
Now that is all debatable and really academic to my larger point, are YOU ready for a societal breakdown?
There are those that say store food, water and gasoline which is all fine and dandy but to be honest, just how much can you store? Oh, there are two other things you should have, very important things I might add if storing the others and those would be guns and ammunition!
Please picture this if you will, especially those in urban settings (for those in Rio Linda, large cities):
Breakdown occurs: You have done all the preperation; plenty of food, water and energy. You are the only one in your area with power running and full bellies,,good job!
Now what?
Just who do you think will be the target of the folks who did not prepare? YOU!

It is time for you to think of an escape from the large cities and the very fastest route you can do so. If separated from family, all must know what the plan is should this occur.
All modes of transportation will be severely limited if not closed, so travel on foot must be expected and accepted. If this breakdown occurs there will be no trains, no buses, no air travel at all and roads will be closing before you can bat an eye. All preparations for the most basic mode of human travel is a must; exercise, reliable and durable footwear, heavy coats and everything that one might carry in case of an emergency in their car. Travel by foot as light as possible but also just as responsible.
It is imperative that should this happen that all carry at least one firearm per person with enough ammunition to get you to your planned rendezvous outside (well outside) a major Metro area alive.

You say this is your country and you want it back, well fine but you had better learn to do it as it was originally done!
There are no martyr's in gaining freedom from humans, that term is reserved for those who fight for God. Some Americans may say that in this case, should it happen, one is the same as the other and I would respond R.I.P. as that is what you relied on, peace. Band with family and others of like mind and soul and weapons, lots of them and have a plan, a destination and all bring the predetermined supplies when and if possible being most will be separated at such a time.

I believe that if we win the next election and send Obama a packin' that we can save the country and avoid it from this type of calamity. But, with saying that, I believe that each citizen should be prepared for the worst. I guess this means that I need to look more into getting a gun. My one problem is that they are or can be expensive.
The scary thing is that people in the burbs and cities will have guns as well. Having guns and ammo is a great start but you better well be good at using them and be willing to do so. If that happens then the best thing is to stay away from people all together. How many Americans coulc hunt ans wildcraft foods from nature? It aint like the movies. You will need skills beyond watching some videos. You need to practice. Things are much different when they are real not imagined. I remember going into the kick boxing ring with blackbelts that had traind for many many years. But wehen they got into the ring it all fell apart and they reverted back to streetfighting. If things go down this way,and they most likely wont, it's better to hide from all those preditors. Have a strong offence rather then a strong offence. Detroit has a lot of preditors living their. Start your training by just walking the streets of Detroit. And I don't mean the nice areas. Cass coridor is a great start. It will open your eyes to what you will most likely be doing.
Having a gun is a great thing. Learn to hunt,fish and gather wild foods is also important. But you need to practice all of them so you are good enough to survive using them. If you know these things you can survive and keep the Ten Commandments as well. Most likely we will get nudged into poverty on our own property. That is why I also garden and learned antient methodes of farming and preserving foods. I'm glade Christopher is talking about this as a possi9ble outcome. My grandparents were always prepared for these things. They were the last generation to prepare for the worser and pray for the best.
The problem with the survival map is that it is too restrictive. Also, warm weather means more human preadators. The gangs and the thugs will not be heading north.
In fact, many in the northern climes will die of exposure pretty quickly.
Learn to survive the elements! That's the first step of outdoor survival anyway. More importantly, learn to surivive where you are, in place.
OK, I agree that I have enough food/water, but I can't afford buying guns for others. Just getting others to store the food & water is an effort.
Guns/ammo is good, but I found a book I'll be giving to everyone during the holidays cause it's cheaper & can't afford much.
It's about Amerians who finally take a stand (yes, they own guns) against federal tyranny. It's a great read & I can afford doing this. Liked it cause it could be our true destiny in history.

One variable he missed is where liberals live. It is common knowledge that liberals crack very easy, they also have no problem stealing or breaking the Ten Commandments or laws. If you live in a liberal city like Detroit, good luck because you'll need it.
You are right. I know I'll get far away from people. It is important that you have a village or tribe mentality under those conditions. Living in SE Michigan I would go up north. Staying warm is easy and food is abundant up their if you know how to harvest it. SAS Survival Guide should be in everybodies library at home.

One has to weigh the price of anything against it's true value.
If one wishes to protect themselves and their family now or in such a scenario as above, is that not a guns true value?
Many things we all purchase are expensive, but certainly not holding anywhere close to the value of ones own life. Do not let the price tag preclude you from your purchase, it's too important.

I am more than aware of the particular area Chris mentions and really it is a cake walk compared to other more notorious parts of Detroit, either way unless you wish death, or in the case of being prepared, possible murder charges I again wish you do not take this advise.

The reason I posted it is it shows exactly where to avoid where others will go and as you state it will be too restrictive. Plus, with so many people congested in a small area crime would be so prevalent which no police (if any at all around?) or military could stop.

I to wish I could afford guns for all but that is up to each adult, I just advocate that all you may band with be armed and that is where the planning comes in.
As for my immediate family, yes we are armed (and trained) as I found it my duty as an American to see to this.

Great post Chris. While no one can know for sure what's going to happen you have to be ready for the most likely event first and then plan from there. The most likely may not necessarily be the most catastrophic. I believe in times of crisis people will pull together, for a while. Then it's going your neighbors against you. Be ready. The books I have read are "Patriots. Surviving the coming collapse" by Jim Rawles and "Civil War II Time bomb 2000" Patriots is something of a manual but based on a fiction story of a "group" of folks who planned and gathered after the event. Amazingly the first chapter details almost exactly what is happening now with the fed and .gov. There are others but this is a good start. AR15.com has a good survival page under the Outdoors heading at the top of the site. Google can lead you to others. Don't take anything for gospel but read what you can and use what you can fit into your plan. Just have a plan. While not in the USA my location fits the bill, mostly frost free, warm but not hot, low population and ample rainfall plus good farmland and excellent river and sea communications. :-D and many miles from the nearst urban badlands. I have no gun but do have a couple of hundred tins of food and camping gas stove with refills, just in case.
The BBC did an excellent drama covering this scenario, The Survivors

I was remiss in not including all freedom-loving folks around the globe but the same message remains true for all.
I do not know of the laws regarding personal possession of firearms in the U.K., but know they are much more restrictive than that in the U.S. if allowed at all and that would seem to be the case throughout the world (right now). This is why our 2nd Amendment is really the cornerstone of the Republic.
It would be par for the course that the liberal, fascist BBC and socialist government apparatus there would want to dumb-down the populous with such stereotypes. I hope all see the series (the new version) exactly the way you view it, with open eyes and yes, profiling.

There are many places in Detroit where white people will not survive with or without a gun. It's one ofd the sadest cities on the planet.
Chris, This is not a black or white issue but rather a survival one.
If you believe white people will not take advantage of those who have prepared be they black or white then you will be gravely caught off guard!
If it comes, we'll be ready. Already preparing lists and storing survival necessities but in mass, not only for myself and family but for like minded people if they have found themselves not prepared and lost. You can build a strong coalition of resistance with this in mind. And anyone who prepares like this and prepares in this manner can all band together a sizable counter action force. Keep in that back of your minds.

Great post, Christopher, and great suggestions too. I agree with you 100%, esp the part of not walking into the crappy area's for practice. That would be TOO dangerous and unnecessary.
We know they are dangerous mental cases that will shoot you for a cigarette. Would a person swim in a croc infestated river to count how many are in there NO NO NO!
Other than that. Invest in the best implements to help you survive. This is not a time to worry about the cost.
