Folks, I am one to listen to those who are kind enough to visit this blog as I learn much by doing so. Now being the Christmas Season I not only gain knowledge by those who wish to opine here but also the real art of music and song being shared all for one purpose, common enjoyment in giving Glory to God which all can smile about. This is the only gift I have ever wanted to give or receive,,a smile.
Now, Odie (The Woodsterman) is a U.S. treasure (one of so many) being a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and he relayed a story ( not a bad one) to us (me) from that war on my last post and well,,here it is in his own word's,,,,
Woodsterman -Well Odie, I could not find footage of that very special event, but my friend all Americans Thank You for your service to our Nation,,WELCOME HOME, Merry Christmas and this is for you!
This version is your favorite only because you never heard Dean Martin's version dedicated to the troops in Vietnam. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
I also mentioned another visitor to CP in the title of this post by the name of 'Banned', this gentleman that graces this blog with his presence is a British Subject or otherwise known as a citizen of the United Kingdom.
Now Banned also offered an opinion as to my last Christmas Time Jukebox selection and subsequently offered his very own and again in his own words,,,,,
I stated I was not aware of the tune, but now I am! So Banned, this is for you and may You and Yours have a Very Merry Christmas!banned -Not my cup of tea Chris, I much prefer Chris Rea "driving home for Christmas' but each to his own.
Thank you both gentlemen!!!!!
And to all,,,
May Gods' Blessings be with you and yours !!!!!!!!!!!

I was raised with Dean Martin and et al of that time era singers Christmas songs. I never heard of Chris Rea either. It is very nice too. Rascal Flatts harmony is amazing.
This Dean ditty took me back to my misspent youth, Christoper. My parents bought this very album with Deano's smiling face when it came out in 1966, and I remember them slapping it on the record changer on the stereo hi fi console (remember those?) each Christmas time for the next 10 years or so.
Thanks Christopher. While I was commenting on the last post yesterday, I was over at YouTube too. Yes I was looking for that very piece I mentioned. You're right ... it ain't there.
Hi Supi,,, I too was raised with all the classics but find most Christmas music very enjoyable due to the theme and my Mom was a HUGE fan of Christmas and the songs bring back very good memories.
'Driving Home for Christmas' really struck a chord (excuse the pun) with all the TSA goings on,,,
Fredd,,,Umm yes I do remember those consoles, playing 45's, 33 1/3's and 78's. Off topic but thats how I first came to know of 'The Lone Ranger' and 'The Shadow' being my parents had (and I still do) original radio broadcasts recorded on vinyl (78 speed).
Back to Christmas, thats what these Christmas post's are all about , sharing a smile and bringing back the Joy that is meant to be. :)
You are more than welcome Odie and distinctly my pleasure!
I was wanting to at least post a pic of the event but could only find one, a collage actually and it was so blurry you could not even tell who was who.
I think Dean Martin's rendition of "I'll be home for Christmas" is the bestest!! Chris Rea was pretty good too. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Chris!
Wow, ta for that Chris, first time I've heard it this year (and on that subject BBC Radio 2 have yet to start smothering the airwaves with Xmas ditties which is a blessing, a fortnight of that will do)
just one small picky, yes, I am a subject of Her Majesty :) and of Great Britain but I am not a 'citizen' of anywhere although the evilEU would like to lay claim to me even though they never asked >:o .
dunno if you have seen this, Nigel Farage on Fox TV ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VHiBiGqvro :-D
Hiya Teresa,,, Aw heck, I lov'em all! Rea is thanks to Banned and I am now a fan of his music, one helluva voice in my humble opinion.
A Very Merry Christmas to You and Yours as well !!!!!!!!
Banned,,,All my pleasure my friend! It was the 1st time I heard it period and enjoy it immensely! :)
The funny thing is about the lyrics as I mentioned below is all the BS with the TSA, many here in the U.S. WILL BE DRIVING HOME for Christmas! >:o
We have a radio station here in the Detroit Metro area that starts Christmas music 24/7 the day after Halloween (I kid you not). Now I a big fan of Christmas period, but that is too soon. I prefer they start the day after our Thanksgiving- Nov. 26.
Thank you for straightening me out on wording, I meant to give proper identification and by no means to offend. 8-)
Now I may be incorrect again here (feel free to correct me), but I think the proper British expression at this time of year is "Happy Christmas" and that is what I wish You and Yours! :)
p.s., Thank you again Banned,,,, I was not aware of that interview on Fox Business with Mr. Farage, once again he is speaking the same language (words) as the Tea Party here.
I realize he is yours (thank your lucky stars) but my God he speaks for freedom loving peoples the world over! He spoke in that interview somewhat what I replied back to you not so long ago,,,,,
News of Americans finding our roots in the Tea Party movement here is spreading 'round the globe. I have posted on it being in the UK, Australia, heard of it starting in Canada as well.
Each and every country should have it's own culture, it's original culture and that should be the standard. This 'one world shit' has ruined the globe and the terrorists (barbarian moslems know it).
It is time for all western nations to fight the common enemy of freedom just as we did in two word wars, there in no difference between fascism/communism and islam.
After the dust settles, the people of each nation should return to their origins forced by the people of those said nations as when we were all that before the world ran just fine.

"We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" is the norm. :-D
My understanding is that 'Citizens' are for Republics while Kingdoms have Subjects.
Sounds right to me Banned.
I just find it difficult to say 'Subject' (being an American I suppose) albeit with a Monarchy in place and also being there is a Parliamentary system in place as well where the Subjects have a vote.
That said I will honour your terminology and thank you.
