Some things I heard on talk radio yesterday caught my attention more than usual and I cannot get them off my mind.
First was the usual routine of listening to the Rush Limbaugh show and as expected Rush mentioned the Mt. Vernon Statement that came out and that I posted earlier in the day. Very rarely if ever have I
disagreed with El Rushbo on anything but after he mentioned the Statement he continued on a path of describing various statements about conservatism as competition.
You can read it here;

I find nothing in the Mt. Vernon Statement that is in competition with any conservative agenda but rather very consistent with all of them, that is if they are generated by conservatives. That last sentence obviously
leaves out John McCain’s “10 promises”, RINO’S are not consistent with conservatism which actually should go without saying as his actions speak louder than words.
I believe that the more voices heard speaking the same message then all the better. Tea Parties/Rallies, Conservative Think-Tanks, Radio, Blogs, Websites, Twitter, Facebook etc.,,,,
Does any conservative out there think Ronald Reagan or William F. Buckley would disapprove of so many voices singing the same tune?
This conservative thinks not.
Then later in the day I tuned into the Michael Medved radio show just as he was awarding his ‘Golden Turkey Award’, timing is everything they say.
He awarded it to the Mayor of Seattle, Mike McGinn (D) for a line in his ‘State of the City’ address for saying in part;
“The era of big highways is over”. Medved followed the same line of thinking as I on this, what about all the “
stimulus” funds for highways and bridges and all the “
shovel-ready” jobs that go with them? McGinn hates cars but loves mass-transit. OK, do buses not use highways? You get the point here but as I was discussing this with a friend at work and as we were laughing I got to thinking;
Are not highways too big to fail?
Then finally, and I believe this was actually on Medveds Tuesday show he had a caller from Boston on the air who was as usual (being from Boston) bashing Tea Party Americans, but what got me was his complete and utter ignorance on American history. When he finally got around to his (or what he thought was) his climatic point it was worse than I expected.
What he was trying to point out in his little mind was the
‘difference’ was between the original Boston Tea Party and those of today. Ready? His point was that those colonists back then were rebelling against a
‘foreign government’ unlike today!
What this poor sap and I fear many like him do not realize due to a complete white-washing in our education system is that the British Empire
WAS the government and
not ‘foreign’ at all! Hence there is no difference at all between us and our brethren before us.
It is for this exact reason the Declaration of Independence was drafted and the Constitution afterwards.
God save our country because education certainly is not working!
