Happy New Year Message; Let Us Not Waste This One!

The following is from Independence Day 2010 on the Detroit River and I believe more than an appropriate celebration from which to draw upon in the coming year.

It is amateur video but captures the event well and the 2nd video (finale) is awesome.

We Americans participated in American history seeking a return to the Constitutional founding of our Nation based on our Declaration of Independence in the recent congressional election of this passing year, of this we should all hold our heads high!

We have many challenges in not only this coming year of our Lord 2011 but many in the very near and distant future.

These same challenges apply to our long-standing allies in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations to include other members of NATO (Turkey excluded).

May Gods' Graces be upon us all as we work to rid ourselves of the U.N., E.U., muslims, neo-nazis, socialist's, communist's, Marxist's, black panthers, nation of islam and in general this retched, satanist idea of one world order!

Will we have a real Happy New Year in 2011 or just the same 'ole new year of past going down the toilet yet even further?

Make your voices be known! Don't waste this one! Make it a Happy New Year Worldwide!

On a more upbeat tone I leave you with a music/movie video that I posted last New Year as I believe it sets the right tone. It is helpful to see the movie 'August Rush'  (which I highly recommend) from which this is derived  to understand, but it is basically about rediscovery and a coming together based explicably on a common bond which is what I am speaking on, a rediscovery and common bond and in that I speak of freedom.

2011, HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Opening a Door for Another,,(The Possibilities)

This past Wednesday I was on my usual trek to work and on that familiar path I stopped for a 'Red Bull' and a daily newspaper. Alright, the Red Bull tops off my coffee intake (waiting on a heart attack) and the paper is just dribble (waste of a dollar) being I have already consumed up-to-the-minute news right here on the blogsphere and the Internet in general, but I digress.

The title of this post, 'Opening a Door for Another' actually is an idea and or a gesture I myself was raised to do upon egress of a building that requires a door which in turn facilitates not only me but the recipients entrance or exit. The simple trick here is to hold the door open, it is very easy to accomplish and as such requiring little effort.

Now I have seen society lose this gesture of common courtesy over time but must say I have to rely on my upbringing in doing just that, opening the door for another, as it has in the past been a source of excellent conversation with complete strangers or just a simple Thank You with or from whom I have held that door. This is instant gratification on both parts that does not cost a dime nor will not leave the mind at least for the rest of that day on both, all on a simple gesture of opening and holding a door for another.

Back to Wednesday. I completed my monetary transaction with the store clerk and proceeded to the door. Now the door itself was glass and was covered with all sort of advertising so all I could see on the other side was approaching feet if one were to be on the other side of the door. Well I did see feet, well boots actually and camouflage pants. Neither of these are unusual around here in Michigan with winter snow, hunters and wannabe gangstas so I was somewhat cautious to opening that door considering the latter.

Throwing caution to the wind (lots of people around) and I did have to leave I did open that door and held it firmly for the one entering.

You might ask why I say "firmly"?

Well to my delight I found myself holding the door for a United States Army Soldier! This soldier was in full fatigue uniform, boots to beret with the Old Glory patch just glowing and beaming on her uniform!

I am told that I have a rather deep and loud voice so when I believe it is appropriate to speak up I am also usually told to stop yelling. I do not yell, I speak clearly and did so at this point by saying; "Merry Christmas and Thank You for Serving"!

The gesture on my part and my apparent message and voice were not lost on this soldier, she responded in kind with; "Merry Christmas to you and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT"!

All the people inside and outside the store could not help but hear our exchange of pleasantries and of this I am pleased.

Thank our Military every chance you get! I would say in my experience in doing so that 100% of the time a response is indeed forthcoming (not expected or required) and it is not only mind-blowing in that it swells you with pride but it also sticks with you as I am about to explain.

I have relayed a story from my past before involving four fully dress uniformed U.S. Marines in an airport in Missouri on my way to Las Vegas. Long story short I and my friends were passing them in the opposite direction, I spotted them (hard not to) and just before passing by I stopped, stood straight and still and gave them a salute just the way my Dad, Master Sergent, U.S. Army, 1st Infantry taught me to, that being the proper way to salute (not the flimsy wet fish type that Obama does).

To my total, and I mean total utter surprise all four Marines stopped in their tracks as though on cue, stood to attention and SALUTED ME BACK!

At that very moment those four fabulous Marines made me feel like the tallest person on Earth!

Now being in an airport there were many to witness this, it did not last long mind you and no words were exchanged, drop, snap and move along but the applause from the surrounding traveler's was absolutely thunderous and it was not for me obviously. As I stated above, this event was not lost on me. That was in 1987 and I relive that very proud moment in my mind as though it just happened yesterday, everyday, it has not nor ever will leave my memory.

I am no one special but I am an American, but these Marines and the Army Soldier mentioned above already know this and this is why they serve. Together, all of us are exceptional! By saluting or thanking our Military we are metaphorically opening a door, a door to appreciation that goes both ways.

Yes, Thank our Military everyday, it will not only make their day but most assuredly yours as well!

A Very Merry Christmas to all our Military and families and a very sincere Thank You!

Sunday Morning Liquor Sales Begin in Michigan

Yesterday morning in Michigan was an awakening from 100 years of draconian law banning the sales of  alcoholic beverages before noon on Sundays.

Granted the establishments need to acquire (purchase) an annual permit from the State to do so, but the following local news clip features a customer who represents one of my strongest arguments for years now just why this should have happened much sooner.

I to had worked on third-shift for a time and the law banning the sales infuriated me even more so than it did before. Besides the work schedule conflict in timing this was an obvious move for any weekend plans be they BBQ's, picnic's, golf outings and so-on.

Apart from the recreational,  the economic side of this is a win-win all the way. With more establishments opening their doors earlier (which is inevitable) this will bring more sales in all their products/services thus raising sales taxes to the State besides the taxes on alcoholic purchases themselves. On that note, opening doors earlier,  now this either entails employees working overtime or the employer hiring additional staff which of course now raises income tax to the State in either scenario. That plus the additional revenue to the State as stated previously from the purchase of annual permits will generate even more as time goes on.

With the state revenues in a shambles this law was a no-brainer and should have been changed, well 100 years ago.

Another big change to reforming the Michigan laws regarding the sale of liquor is Christmas. Christmas holiday sale opportunities have also been expanded: The old law barred sales from 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve through Christmas day, whereas the new law permits sales until midnight on December 24 and after noon on the 25th.

Just Where Are Those "Green" Jobs?

By Michael A. Fletcher Washington Post Staff Writer

OCALA, FLA. - After losing his way in the old economy, Laurance Anton tried to assure his place in the new one by signing up for green jobs training earlier this year at his local community college.

Anton has been out of work since 2008, when his job as a surveyor vanished with Florida's once-sizzling housing market. After a futile search, at age 56 he reluctantly returned to school to learn the kind of job skills the Obama administration is wagering will soon fuel an employment boom: solar installation, sustainable landscape design, recycling and green demolition.

Anton said the classes, funded with a $2.9 million federal grant to Ocala's workforce development organization, have taught him a lot. He's learned how to apply Ohm's law, how to solder tiny components on circuit boards and how to disassemble rather than demolish a building.

The only problem is that his new skills have not resulted in a single job offer. Officials who run Ocala's green jobs training program say the same is true for three-quarters of their first 100 graduates.

"I think I have put in 200 applications," said Anton, who exhausted his unemployment benefits months ago and now relies on food stamps and his dwindling savings to survive. "I'm long past the point where I need some regular income.",,,,,,, More here

Memories of Youth

You ever have those times where something you read, heard or saw brought you back to your youth and brought a smile? Or maybe it wanted you to reconnect with a distant friend? Or just hearkened back to a day to when things seemed to be better in general? Well The War Planner got me thinking just that and I thank him for that.

With his post: 'Date night, fellow babies' he got me wanting to jam out to some Heavy Metal as some who visit here are aware I enjoy. In my now long distant youth (age wise) I took in as many Heavy Metal concerts as I could afford and the free ones (actually no such thing, somebody paid for them) were always the best.

Now mixing memories of youth, heavy metal and free might be a stretch for some but it brought back all that I started this post with. Long story short, a friend worked at a company (that soon after I did also work for) and he asked if I wanted to go to a concert? I stated I could not afford it, he said no problem, his boss was paying. I asked "what gives'? Well it turned out his boss had bought tickets for his nieces and friends but the friends could not attend for whatever reason, so he got the chance to go and a friend, being me.

Now of course I said no problem, but had no idea of who the other people were and really did not care at that point.

The night arrives, we get inside the arena in downtown Detroit and I meet my friends boss and his nieces,, at this point I realise just why my friend, a very good friend indeed invited me, the nieces are gorgeous !

OK, The band featured was Def Leppard and warming up for them was Krokus.

This is a very fun tune for me and a great driving tune as well,,,,,,(turn up your speakers, I know you want to)

The night was a blast but turned out Krokus was the band that got all the curtain calls (Detroit is a tough crowd).

As stated I eventually worked for the same company as my friend and one of the nieces did as well and ,,,,,,

Greg Lake - 'I Believe In Father Christmas' -1975 in Israel

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. Greg Lake, formerly of King Crimson and of Emerson, Lake and Palmer fame wrote and performed this song in this following promotional video for it. This song was a staple around Christmas in my teen years when my ears first heard it and remains so to this day and hope you enjoy it as well.

Protect and Serve? Cops Caught on Camera

I am not one to indict all those who join the ranks of police officers but after the last post one should wonder who is on what side let alone what side arms they hold, or better stated what side arms YOU should hold,,

There is not only good reason to debate the constitutionality of what is deemed "privacy" when filming in public of what is essentially your employee with most if not all knowing that there is no "expectation of privacy" in public to begin with but also why the hell we should pay for their pensions.

There is an excellent debate on the latter point (public service pensions) over at "Fredd Sez" and encourage participation in it as it affects us all.

America, Are You Ready? Part II - The Road Less Traveled

When I posted America, Are You Ready? it got some rather lengthy comments and interest and I believe for very good reason considering the state of the economy and direction of our Nation in general. Our situation and concern is not limited to the USA alone for that post gained UK interest as well.

This installment along the very same lines was brought to my attention by my friend Brian who guest posted awhile back. Now granted this is somewhat long in of itself, but the information contained is priceless. Some such as myself are more than aware of this but others may be shocked and thus awakened to the reality of what they may face should society as they know it cease to exist.

A Veteran Policeman's Observations on The Golden Horde

By James Wesley, Rawles on November 30, 2010 6:41 PM

A lot has been written warning us of what will happen when the City Dwellers find their homes are untenable and vacate [en masse as The Golden Horde] for "the country", but I haven't seen anything on what the make-up of these hordes will be. The generic term "city dwellers" encompasses a lot of territory.

Who will they be,what kind of shape will they be in, how will they be armed...all of these need to be examined.

One category needs to be examined, I feel, more closely than others. Since I have seen posts on your site lately dealing with the nitty-gritty, unpleasant aspects of prepping, I think this is a needed look into what's out there. I've been a cop over 20 years, my last uniform assignment before moving to Investigator being a two year stretch of Anti-Crime patrols in the Section 8 Housing projects of my city. This put me into contact with some of the "Worst of the Worst" that will be fleeing the cities in time of trouble. Gang-bangers, common street thugs, dope dealers and users, all have a place in the hierarchy of the streets. And they will certainly be part of what preppers will be facing in times of troubles. Here's some of what I have learned:

The bottom rung is occupied by the drug addicts and users. They exist, not live as we understand the word. They have no assets, no goals, no drive. But they do have an almost animal instinct to continue living. They will be armed with anything they can steal or lay hands on. Most will have a knife of razor box cutter, and some sort of cheap pistol, or they will not live to get out of the city. Since they have no resources or assets, they will be on the edge of starvation and desperation almost within a day of an event. With no fixed residence or place to defend, they will be hitting the road and coming towards us. They will become violent without any provocation and there will be no negotiating or bargaining with them. They don't want to hear your story or excuses. All they want is what you have. And have no doubts: They will do anything to get what they want. And this does include catering to their most base instincts of rape, murder and mutilation. Letting someone like this even close to you and what you have is flirting with death.

The next and most numerous will be the drones who make up the majority of the project dwellers. They live on Government Entitlement checks, have no assets and, on any given day will have no more than 3 or 4 days supply of food in their apartments, most of this being refrigerated. There will be a high percentage of females without male companions, will have a large number of children and will be absolutely vicious and violently inclined. Their day to day existence within the defined society they live in demands they be aggressive and violent. They fight more, and are arrested more, than the males they live around. The males will have more serious charges, but the females will have more of them. They too cannot be trusted. If they are drug users, they will, and have, traded their children for drugs, and, based on this proven behavior, will most certainly abandon them or trade them if the situation calls for it. Seeing that you are supplied, they will leave their children in your yard and walk away, counting on your liberal Good Samaritan instinct that has always bailed them out in the past to care for their offspring and justify that to themselves as "doing what they have to do". Knowing that they will do something as low as this,be assured they will do much worse. They habitually carry razor knives and small pistols such as .25 ACPs and .380 ACPs. They are very dangerous and unstable folks to be around. These females may or may not be accompanied by men. The males may be linked biologically to one or more of the children but will abandon them as easily as the females. These males come from the lower order of males (see next classification) and will be armed as described next.

The next order of classification will be unattached or drone males. These males tend to be convicted of felonies before they are 21 and who hang around the other, more productive males who deal drugs and have money. They will also be the so-called "foot soldiers" of the drug and street gangs. They exhibit sociopathic behavior and have no allegiance to anyone except maybe a family member, usually referred to as a "cousin" or a gang. They live off the female drones by paying cash rent, gained by low level drug dealing and petty crimes, to a female who has Section 8 housing, for a room that they sleep in and usually have no other attachment such as taking meals there. They live off fast food, carry guns of dubious origin and consume massive amounts of drugs and alcohol, mostly beer and cheap brandy and marijuana. They will not have any assets to defend, may accompany the female who rents them a room and will hang around the cities and projects only as long as their cohorts do. They will leave in junky vehicles, steal what they need along the way and kill, rob, rape and pillage their way across the countryside. Their weapons tend to be of the pistol variety although they may have access to shortened, easily concealable shotguns or rifles. Their lifestyle doesn't give them a secure place to hide or keep long guns, but they will steal and use them if given a chance. They will also have some type of blade weapon and be proficient with the use of them. They are very dangerous to anyone who comes into contact with them.

The last and highest order will be the moneyed drug dealer. He will have a flashy vehicle such as an Escalade or Lexus variety. He will have quality firearms, preferring Glock handguns and SKS or AK type rifles and will have ammunition for them in quanity. He will be arrogant and a definite killer. He will have assets to defend and may not leave his comfort zone until forced by authorities or circumstances. He will have "foot soldiers" and a woman traveling with him, but probably not children. He will travel well and be charming when trying to gain confidence or talk himself out of a jam. He will also be vicious and hateful, full of spite at those he sees as having taken away his lifestyle and means of making a living. He most probably will not have a lot in the way of supplies such as food and medical equipment, tending to live in the moment and not for the future. He will be one of the opportunistic "I'll just take what I need" types. He will be very cunning, having risen to the top of the street hierarchy, and all the more dangerous because of this.

When dealing with all of the above types, caution is the word. Never let them get even a glimpse of what you have. Never let them get past your outer barrier, be that a fence, abatis or boundary line. Its best to keep verbal contact to the barest minimum. A terse: "We have nothing, go away or we will shoot" is a good example. I have seen them be charming and seemingly harmless while edging into a fence gate or otherwise getting closer until they are in range to strike. You must always remember the 20 foot rule (Never let anyone get closer than 20 feet from you at any time). It is important to remember also that the longer they have been roaming and stealing, the better armed they may be, having stolen others firearms and equipment. Seeing an obvious street thug carrying an expensive scoped rifle or an engraved shotgun should be a tip off as to what they are. These type people would never spend money on a gun that may be taken by the law at anytime in their day to day existence. They do worship Glocks and the glamour they see in them. A dealer told me once, when confessing to an assault "I just outs with my Glock .40 and let it holla" as if he had done something great.

I know that most people who read your blogs are aware enough to keep strangers away from their refuge. But if someone has never lived around these types of people, they may not be aware of just how dangerous they really are. As I mentioned, they can be charming, cunning and decietful. They have lived their entire lives off the goodwill of others and The Government and are past masters at pretending to be needy, harmless and "safe". Guile is engrained in them. I leave you with one short story. In the days after Hurricane Katrina, we were reinforced with officers from other agencies, many states away, who had volunteered to help. (I was not in New Orleans, but on the edge of the hurricane strike) I was partnered with a state SWAT officer from up North. This man was experienced and a "steady hand". As we walked through some of the power blacked-out , sweltering-in-the-heat projects, he turned to me and said: "This is worse than Mogadishu". He was scared and had good reason to be. And this was after only three days of no electricity and relief was just starting to arrive. Think about those same areas after a real failure of services and food deliveries. Good Luck. Beware the Stobor. - Ed S.

Then those who are inclined to follow the Holy Scripture might also give this some attention while digesting the above,,,,(H/T to The Chronicle Watch)

Thank You Haifa, Israel and God Bless!

A local industrial designer in Israel has built a Christmas tree made of more than 5,000 plastic bottles. Trees are sparse in Israel after thousands were burnt in Israel's worst and deadliest forest fire. (Dec. 13)

The left in the West sure could use a lesson in tolerance
from our friends in Israel now couldn't they!

Breaking: Federal judge rules ObamaCare unconstitutional

CNN has a breaking alert on a ruling by a federal judge in Virginia that rejects ObamaCare as unconstitutional:

A federal judge in Virginia has ruled parts of the sweeping health care reform effort led by President Obama to be unconstitutional. This is the first federal court to strike down the law, contradicting other recent rulings the law was permissible. The key issue of contention was the “individual mandate” requirement that most Americans purchase health insurance by 2014.

My All-Time Favorite Christmas Song - JOY TO THE WORLD

I have loved this song for as long as I can recall. My Mother just simply loved Christmas and always made it special (like most things) and this song was always a part of our family Christmas.

Now in more recent times I had come across the musical ensemble of Mannheim Steamroller and their wonderful version of the song.

No, El Rushbo was not the source, actually I heard them long before Rush put them in his rotation music so you might say I was ahead of the curve on this,,lol. This will shock some, but I actually became aware of them by surfing TV channels and landed on PBS when my ears caught a sound that encapsulated my heart.

When I first heard this my reaction was that this is EXACTLY how people should hear it; the instruments make the sounds of angels singing, the lights speak for the atmosphere that might be Heaven and the actions and faces of the musicians speak for all of us.

Mannheim Steamroller performs many if not all the classic Christmas songs and also their own originals but in my humble opinion this version of 'Joy To The World' is just the best ever.

To me, the sounds and lights spell out what Christmas is all about, the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ and all the Joy He brings to the World! Absolutely majestic and appropriately so.

This is but a small forum from which to view this (go full screen) and fully believe all should get a copy to see on your televisions if you have not been to one of their concerts.

No Confidence

Friends, I will keep this short as most are aware,,,,,

Here at CP I am fortunate to have some Conservative bloggers from the United Kingdom who follow my postings and I follow theirs as well to be the most informed as I can be. You cannot be informed by just a nations "news",  people are and have always been the source for accurate information.

Now I mention this as they will be most familiar with the phrase of "No confidence" as is quite often utilized in the Parliamentary form of government they adhere to there and other nations as well namely Canada and Israel to name a couple.

Anyone wanting to know more about what this (No Confidence) means in that political system of government just Google it, but for my American readers we just witnessed the President of the United States abdicating his Oath-sworn, elected position as POTUS to a former, thereby casting a vote of 'No Confidence',,,IN HIMSELF!

Imagine if you will George W. Bush turning over an OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE press conference to his dad, George H.W. Bush? Or, Ronald Reagan to Gerald Ford or Richard Nixon??????

My God the Nation would be screaming and justifiably so!!!!

WHERE ARE THE MARINES?

THE MAN JUST QUIT!

IF HE DOES NOT LEAVE PEACEFULLY, REMOVE HIM FORCIBLY!!!

Another POTUS saw the future, yes Jimmy Carter. Most old enough to remember the "Malaise" speech of the peanut farmer need not listen (but it is nostalgic) . But for those who maybe new to this, just listen to the first few 00.19 seconds to understand what I speak of,,,,,,

That was 1979, a socialist POTUS who saw the future even before he even new it!

Do some of those words ring true? Well they should, he started the snowball which is the avalanche now!

Irish Rant - An Irishman Speaks His Mind!

Folks, I shamelessly borrow the following video from Jim McMahon-Chicago .

Most are aware of the absolute financial mess in the Republic of Ireland but the man in this video lays it out plainly in one of the best rants I have heard in quite some time.

Please, if you choose to view this, stick with it 'til the end as it is hilarious at that point.

Editors Note; Strong language
