Conservative Perspective (Christopher) has yet to say who I support in the current field of prospective candidates for the GOP nomination for POTUS in 2012 be they declared or as yet to be as the field is ever changing which I believe is a good thing (thus far).
Most blogs I follow seem to jump (as does the MSM including Fox) when one joins the field of candidates or drops out and this is fine and I would say understandable but yet confusing at the same time.
Those who might read this blog would know I was an early proponent of Rep. Mike Pence (R-IND) to throw his hat into that particular ring but that hope was quashed by Pence himself (again, thus far). So being that the case I have, when commenting elsewhere or posting on this site have chosen to alert and or remind people of the failing's that I see as clear to the choices at hand when and if I see "more of the same", meaning RINO or flat out liberal using a RINO label so that America loses, again.
Those who know of President Reagan's word's will think me unwise in this endeavor but I would beg to differ as he was speaking about real Republican's in the real sense of the founding of the party, not what we suffer through today, insufferably I should say.
The question of; "Just who do you want as the next President?" is obviously unscientific in result should you offer your opinion but is an honest question just the same. I offer no names (besides Pence above, sorry my bad) and all are welcome to name declared, undeclared and those you wish would jump in.
Editors Note: I will not "attack" anyone on their choice and all can comment at will as to the reason for said choice if they so choose to do so.
This is about choices and wishful thoughts if you will in some cases, and any dissent on anyones part toward another's choice should be considered as adult conversation on what is probably the most important election ever in our lifetime, if not since the American Revolution it's very self.
To my friends in the UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and elsewhere, your reply is welcome as well as what happens here in the U.S.A. affects your Nation's as well, and I myself am curious to hear how you folk's abroad see things shaping up here although you have no vote on the matter.
So, what say you,,,,Just who do you want as the next President?
I offer some patriotic music for contemplation being the American Holiday we celebrate this weekend,,,,

You are right that it is too early to pick someone. That's what the primary is for. I want to hear them out and see them debate one another.
I've heard good things from each one, and each one also has a showstopper. It's a multiple choice test, Reagan ain't running, so we just have to go with the best of the lot.
Unlike many others, I think we're in good shape. It's a good field with lots of experience.
Gingrich is the only one I've pretty much written off. And I can honestly do that because he't talked so much over the past 20 years, that we all know where he stands. I have also ruled out Giuliani. He did a great job on 9/11, but this election is about so much more than that, and he doesn't bring the skills and experience that we need this go around.
Palin and Bachmann just need more experience, period, and neither is my first choice, but I would happily pull the lever if either woman got the nomination. Obama sets a very low bar.
I will start out with an analysts of set players and talked about would be player.
Ron Paul:
Strong domestic ideas
VERY dangerous foreign policy ideas.
Easily beatable

My Vote=Yes but not 100% sure at this point

My Vote=NO
Romney:
Strong domestic ideas-with some exceptions
Good foreign policy ideas.
Good contender
Huge problem, won't admit the Mass. Romneycare was a mistake and a BAD idea.
My Vote=unsure

Palin:
Strong domestic ideas
Good foreign policy ideas.
Good contender
Huge problem, the left media have had 2+ years with her and now independents won't vote for her.
My Vote=She needs some presentation polishing. As much as I love this person, I don't think she can beat Obama based on how the media has formed her politically in the eyes of independents.
Bachmann:
Strong domestic ideas
Good foreign policy ideas.
Good contender
My Vote=Yes
Ginrich:
Smart guy
Knows the ins and outs of domestic policy and Washington
Good, but not great, foreign policy.
Can beat Obama, however he has made his bed with Conservatives and has damaged his chances with us.
Vote=No
Chris,
The easiest way to state what I'm looking for in a president is to post my feelings on the Tea Party, something I know you have seen on my site. What I said below is exactly what I am looking for. As much as I for one would like Bachmann, Sarah, Cain, West and most especially if he were to run, John Bolton as some examples pf candidates, the fact is the candidate I want to support is one who is bound to the principles I describe below. Serving the people, our Constitution and adhering to the basic ideals of our great country!
It is apparent beyond all doubt that the establishment on both sides are deathly afraid of the so called Tea Party (and thus the electorate in general) and they well should be! For those of you who prefer to live in a cave, the Tea Party from my view is not just about returning to conservative principles. The people who are aligning themselves behind this movement are looking for so much more. We are looking for men and women of principle! We want representatives that obey the will of the people, not their leaders or their own power lust! We want a return to the bedrock principles this country was founded on! We sure as hell do not want to be told we are racists, hate mongers or all the other names we are called just because we disagree with the direction this country is being taken. We believe in free speech, not hate speech!
"The Tea Party movement is not a fight for the heart and soul of the Republican party! A co-opted media led by a hard core left wing wanna be dictatorship government would want you to believe that it is in fact all about the Republicans. And they would be dead wrong! The Tea Party movement is a fight for the heart and soul of our country! It is a fight to return us to what made us the greatest country in the world! How sad that entrenched politicians on the right along with the tone deaf clowns on the left cannot or refuse to understand such a basic tenet!"
I like your assessments, with a few minor differences. Bachmann and Palin, like Newt, are full of ideas, but they haven't done much. Their accomplishments are few. We don't need talk, we need proven action and experience.
Rick Santorum couldn't get reelected in his own state, so I don't know how he is a viable national candidate, although I like him and what he stands for.
I also put Romney in the same category as you. He's a smart guy but too quick to pander and his Romneycare is a showstopper for me.
Ron Paul is a viable candidate, and his foreign policy ideas are not really so dangerous if implemented smartly. We are blowing too much money overseas and getting nothing but hatred in return. He believes in a strong military for National Defense, not global community organizing.
Again, I think you put together a pretty nice summary.
More and more I am leaning towards Cain. The media would have to stand on its head in order to malign him, not so much the others because they are white. Fight fire with fire and label those who will undoubtably attack Cain as racist. Then see how the liberals like it.
Ron Paul is the only one who woudl push for real, substantial cuts in spending in all sectors and in so doing free up capital so we could experience a real recovery.
Ron Paul is also the only one in the race who cannot be accused of flip-flopping
Allen West all the way Chris!!! :)
A Republican ! :-P :-P :-P
Sara Palin or Michele Bachmann, either one. I don't recall a significant flip-flop from either of these conservatives, Silver. Perhaps you can point a few out (since Ron Paul is the only non-flip-flopper per your comment above).
And as far as the leftist media dictating what Sara Palin's 'gestalt' may be, that may be true for really stupid Independents (of which there are lots of 'em), but Sara will have something to say about that going forward.
Sara and Michele: either one can top the ticket, it doesn't matter to me, the other can be Veep.
