A family member of 15 years now, Bailey Dawg (my eldest Dog of two, Riley is 2 1/2) well she has seen better days, much better days and I, my wife and daughter plus Riley are doing our very best to show her the love we always have and keep her comfortable, fed and watered (plus COOKIES!) until the very end.
This is the proper thing to do as Bailey has given all of us here and those of our friend's all the love and much fun and might add protection that a man's best friend ever could!
I have relayed real stories about Bailey Dawg on others sites previously as warranted to their content (and you know who you are) such as when Bailey chased down the thief of my Bush re-election campaign lawn sign, that was really cool, she did not hurt him (as instructed) but damn did he drop the sign and run,,,lmao.
Some may know how Bailey and I met. Long story short, I and then my girlfriend (Wife now) happened upon a scene of young boys playing catch,,WITH A 4-WEEK OLD PUPPY! I grabbed the puppy, Bailey, with one arm and the one kid with the other HAND straight to his parents etc. then straight to the vet and we have not been separated since (except for her being spayed and she was soooo mad at me then).
Well thats the gist of it, I wish no sympathy as I just wanted to explain that alot of effort is being given to make Bailey comfortable as possible.
God love her, she still gets around albeit slowly, wags her tail, barks like she always has when necessary and yes she still shakes a leg during a gentle belly-rub! As dog lovers might know she also still smiles.
Bailey is, as explained to myself when she was 10 weeks old, a mutt comprised of Labrador and Golden Retriever plus German Shepard. The Shepard part shows in her 'mask' and size, her Lab in swimming and her Golden in personality. Many make one, but one of a kind she is! She retains the fight of a Tea Partier and that is to fight until the bitter end with many at her side!
The following reminds me much of Bailey as a little pup,,,,,,,,,
{The pictures are representative of Bailey as no real pics of her as a puppy have been transferred to digiatl format scanned or otherwise and I do not wish to diminish her memory with one now.}

I hate when the time comes to say goodbye to our four legged friends, it pains me terrible. As a dog owner all of my life, I know the joy and sadness. First it was Niki then Kodi then Bubba. When Prudence passed I said no more, now Mr. Zeke is our new best friend and he is as grateful as we are we grabbed him! Best wishes Christopher.
All good dogs go to heaven, or so we would believe. Most of us can sympathize with the grief and mourning we go through after losing a pet member of the family, especially after 15 years, and my heart goes out to your family, Christopher.
So sorry to hear that time with your precious family member has become limited. I've had many dogs over the years, still do, and saying goodbye never gets any easier. To be honest, it cuts me to pieces everytime. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I know how you feel about dear Bailey, Chris. I lived thru similar scenarios with a few of my dogs. The end time is very depressing, but you can cheer up knowing you have given her the best possible life these many years. I hope you all get thru this ok, it's a VERY sad situation to be sure. God Bless and I know you'll see Bailey, and we all will see our dear departed pets, one day in Heaven.
I am so sorry to hear of this Christopher. Bailey has become an integral part of your family and it is so sad when you have to say goodbye to your family pets. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
I haven't had a dog in many years, even though I grew up with dogs. It really is like losing a member of the family when they're gone.
Sorry to read this. Keep her comfortable for as long as you can (I know you will). We'll be right here for ya, bro!
So sorry to hear about your buddy. It is heart breaking to watch. I know you will make Bailey comfortable as possible and give him extra "cookies". Scratch his ears and rub his belly for me.
I thank each and all for your understanding and words of kindness as it means much to my family and Bailey especially.
Bailey may not be able to read but she knows when something is good as she got a boat-load of belly rubs and ear scratching from your comments plus extra cookies and of course Riley got equal time,,,you know how kids are :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Thank you again with much gratitude,
Christopher and Family
That really sucks, I'm sorry man.
I never had one, I grew up with a Brittany... but these dogs
are my absolute favorite, I still want to get one one day.
Christopher,
I understand.
Take care of Bailey as she so deserves.
Mr. AOW and I have cats (middle-aged and older), and two are having health issues right now. I find that I, too, have to restrict my activities that entail doing things other than taking care of these four-legged members of the family.
Real life takes precedence, Christopher. Bailey is one lucky dog.
Thanks Silver, AOW and RR! :) Me thinks I and Riley will have to go out and get more cookies now,,,,,,,
p.s., Silver, It's funny you say that as I used to have a dog named Lucky (Dawg) =-O
