P.S., Captain, Respectively, the reason I mention you is that you seem to have bought into the hyped-up myths mentioned above in my last post and one of your own and thus may so have your readers. I understand completely the anxiety but cooler heads must prevail.

Wake up Congress. and start listening to what the we the people want.
Damn skippy Mal, not only what we want but what we KNOW!
Smoke and mirrors ... Our Treasury takes in $200,000,000,000.00 (with a B) per month. That's 2,400,000,000,000.00 (with a T) per year. Live within it Washington!
You got that right Odie! It's so frickin' simple, just cut all unnecessary spending to and including Obamacare and guess what, if not a surplus but a balanced budget.
On top of that payback all borrowed and unused (there is plenty) stimulus and QE I & II funds thereby lessening the debt.
NICE find, Christopher... But we already knew this, didn't we? :)
Yes we did Mark but more read our blogs than they are willing to admit. Comments are nice but the reach is better. 8-)
Christopher,
I did respond earlier with what I thought was a coherent argument, and in it I agreed with most of what you have been saying. It disappeared into the ether when I clicked "post".
It may well show up in the fullness of time.
I agreed that Congress would find a way to deliver on Aug 2. I stated that the debt ceiling had been raised more times than a hookers skirt, and that it was usually done without recourse to the Constitution, or any deep thought of the impact on Americans. I suggested that the politicians and bankers care very little (if at all) for Joe & Jane Public.
I also said that we were in the same leaky boat. (It's just that you guys tend to lead, and we tend to (blindly) follow).
This piece also says what I am thinking right now:

Whatever happens, my American cousins, my thoughts are with you.
CR.
Captain,,,I agree with all except this "deadline". This is like the 4th one announced this year with no, repeat no repercussions once the previous three passed.
This is another of those myths and stated by this administration to scare everyone into their scheme and close the issue further away from the 2012 election.
p.s., Thats a good link, thanks for providing it. Actually when I read it I read 'hamburger' as "Obamacare".
