When I Wake Up,,,,A couple of Musings

Literally. When I wake up. Many of us have been taught to say prayers before we go to sleep as that is very good advice of which I myself maintain as it brings me peace.

I ask though, as I do, how many wake in the morning thanking God for just that, waking up breathing?

I bring this up as I get many a strange look and laughter and some times a look of "whatever" when I am asked "How are you doing today?" and I respond; "Well, I woke up breathing again today, always a good start".

I have no sickness or disease (yet anyhow) but everyday I thank God I woke up from my slumber rain or shine. I have an American and might add Irish attitude instilled in me by my parents that may not bleed through into my word's here all the time but remains true in my soul.

There are many things my Mom and Dad taught me but have to say this one stuck with me for life;

When you walk out that door you tell yourself and the world; "Look out world 'cause here I come!"

This is me. I suppose what I am trying to relate is a positive approach to everything; work , family, traffic,,yada, yada, yada. Yes we all have trials and tribulation's but if facing them with a positive attitude and I might add a conservative one you might be amazed at what follows.

Now us in the blogging sphere have the habit when waking and throughout the day for that matter, day after day, of being very aware of the current news of not only where we may reside but that of the world in general and this brings me to another point mentioned above, trials and tribulations.

I have often said we need to speak with those who, for lack of a better term, are Obama supporters and being I am in the Detroit area and in the U.A.W. I have ample opportunity to do so on a daily basis.

A recent conversation with a female co-worker who just happens to be of the hyphenated African-American persuasion was going on and on about "Bush's illegal wars". Now of course I reminded her that they were not illegal and all the facts based in that very real fact, but then I asked her opinion on Obamas very real illegal war in Libya. What I got in return was not at all what I expected.

I did expect MSNBC related talking points and a complete distortion of the Constitution but what I got from her, and believe me I took it as real being I respect her not in her political beliefs but as honest, she had not a clue about Libya, that we are there bombing or even who Col. Qaddafi (sp? I am sick of finding the correct spelling!) is???

I was honestly unprepared for this reaction and left it at explaining this has been going on for months and to just please Google the word 'Libya' and find another news source.

We have to do better my friends, when we wake up we have to inform others of reality as often as possible so that they may be awake mentally as well.

Keep the attitude; "Look out world, here we come!" And please do not forget to thank God that you are indeed awake!

{Note, I have no confidence my coworker will Google 'Libya' so I will provide the data myself}

It's funny you'd relate that story right after the President in his talk down to america yesterday said the following.

“So… the the American people are misinformed if not incapable of absorbing matters beyond the narrow, personal sphere. It’s the ‘What’s the Matter with Kansas?’ answer. You don’t know what is good for you. If you knew, you’d agree with me.”

Here we have a President telling the world we are too dumb to understand and you have a friend who is actually apparently following the prescribed indoctrination by today's leadership, a leadership that doesn't want us to know anything other than their mantra.

Interesting indeed.

This is great advice. In these hard times we need God more then ever. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Joe,

Honestly this post started as something different but after this real conversation with my coworker and the remarks by Obama that you quote (which both happened yesterday oddly enough) I found the two ideas meshed together quite well and in a timely fashion to highlight that the left needs to be awoken out of their ignorance.

I hold no ill will toward my coworker and restate I believe she is honest which is very evident by her disclosure of not knowing about Libya. Honestly, I found it hard to believe that one could not know. Even if they did know but to say as she did would surely make them look at the very least foolish and who wants to knowingly do that? So again, I take her at her word.

I do not for one second believe Obama was speaking about or to Conservatives, Libertarians or the the Tea Party movement in general, he is not stupid. He was however trying to get people such as my coworker to believe it and as such keep them ignorant hence my call for all of us to do better in waking them up.

My pleasure brother :) I believe you are in little need of reminding as you keep up the fight on both fronts mentioned here over at Bonsai,,KEEP IT UP!

I do pray in the morning, nothing fancy just some thankyous and requests for blessings.

And you are right that we need to educate our fellow Americans.

Having had one of my children spending their first three years at near death I can tell you that regardless of my strong Catholic beliefs, God has been thanked endlessly by my wife and I.

I pray "Lord, wake me up when Obama's gone!"

That's why I haven't been giving any thanks in the morning, Christoper lol

James,,,,Please think on it more my friend not only for waking up breathing but had you not been a blogger we would have never made an acquaintance as with so many others not only here in the US. but worldwide.

I know you added "lol" and we share the same thoughts on Obama but remember that if it were not for him Americans would be clueless as to what creeping socialism is. This SOB in less than 3 years has proven how disastrous socialism is to Americans faster than either Hitler to the Germans or Mussolini to the Italians to and including a World War!

God does indeed work in mysterious ways and there is of course a special place in hell for the 3 people mentioned above.

Yes, wake up thankful!

Hi Chris, Great to see you at the big crash the other day. I see reactions like your coworker all the time, many are clueless. Overheard: All Republican's should be in jail just like Kwame Kilpatrick. Abraham Lincoln Freed the slaves, Republican's were for slavery and big business in the north, Thats why I always vote Democratic. Clueless, clueless, clueless and not having a clue. The task is big and will take years to rectify.

Chris . . . I am constantly amazed at the number of people that simply don't read the newspaper or watch television news. It's also interesting that so many of these folks seem to be liberal Democrats and supporters of the Obama Administration. It is very hard to understand how ANYONE doesn't see the danger of America's march toward socialism. Is there really so many voters out there that don't know or care that the government supply of real wealth (it can always print more money) depends on work, protection of private property, fair and equitable laws, . . . . and honoring the provisions of the American Constitution? Bump

Hey George, It was great to see you as albeit under the wrong circumstance that is.

We just have to keep chipping away at that wall of ignorance. I find it useful engaging such people, challenging their statements of "fact" and then offering the obvious truth as it produces their inevitable "feelings" on any given subject.

At this point I remind them that feelings have no bearing or place in the discussion but rather reality and either show them the truth (which is best, short attention spans) or point the way to it which makes the process toward knocking that wall of ignorance down just a tad little faster.

Dixon,,,Reading would be preferable out of the two mediums should they venture to seek information.

You are correct that these folks are liberals. For instance When asking them where they heard 'Bush did this' or 'Bush did that' when claiming some unknown and outlandish rumor they always say; "Well I heard it somewhere". When pressed further as to just where they heard it you may get something akin to this;
"Well my step-sisters husbands Uncle whose neighbors Niece told her Mom as she heard it at McDonald's so it must be true"?????

As to the number of this entity one need only look at the last presidential election, sadly.
