I have engaged in the past with fellow Christian's on the street, at work, with family (my Great Uncle was a Roman Catholic Priest, Pastor, Canadian Military Chaplin and Theologian) and on the blogsphere on what I think we all can agree is a very important subject which is what day to celebrate and or recognize as the Sabbath. After all it is one of the Ten Commandments.
It has been my position for many years now based on actual and verifiable history that the true Sabbath is Saturday while others, mainly of the Roman Catholic Church (of which I am a former member, 30 years now) disagree vehemently with that position and fact that it boggles my mind. (Not picking on you, it just seems the strongest opposition to this point is from those who follow Vatican Doctrine.)
Those that are familiar with this blog know I do not delve into this subject matter of religion often or lightly, at least the 'politics' of Christianity. And yes, it is politics when you get down to the nitty-gritty that humans bring to it, not God, humans.
OK, On with the show so-to-speak. The gentleman in the video below states succinctly what I have been saying but he does a better job at it to be sure. The video is not long, it is informative as it is based on historical fact and I hope you see this before you head out the door.
Remember that Jesus Christ, the Jesus of Nazareth, Son of God, Our Lord and Savior recognized the Seventh Day, Saturday as His Fathers Sabbath Day.
I defy any Christian of any persuasion to point out where the Son of God, Jesus Christ whom Christianity is named for changed the day of the Sabbath to Sunday. If you can do that I will change my ways, but if you cannot I plead with you to change your's.

In 2009 I was asked by a journalist for my thoughts on the importance of Earth Hour. Here is my response.
I abhor Earth Hour. Abundant, cheap electricity has been the greatest source of human liberation in the 20th century. Every material social advance in the 20th century depended on the proliferation of inexpensive and reliable electricity. Giving women the freedom to work outside the home depended on the availability of electrical appliances that free up time from domestic chores. Getting children out of menial labour and into schools depended on the same thing, as well as the ability to provide safe indoor lighting for reading. Development and provision of modern health care without electricity is absolutely impossible. The expansion of our food supply, and the promotion of hygiene and nutrition, depended on being able to irrigate fields, cook and refrigerate foods, and have a steady indoor supply of hot water. Many of the world's poor suffer brutal environmental conditions in their own homes because of the necessity of cooking over indoor fires that burn twigs and dung. This causes local deforestation and the proliferation of smoke- and parasite-related lung diseases. Anyone who wants to see local conditions improve in the third world should realize the importance of access to cheap electricity from fossil-fuel based power generating stations. After all, that's how the west developed.
The whole mentality around Earth Hour demonizes electricity. I cannot do that, instead I celebrate it and all that it has provided for humanity. Earth Hour celebrates ignorance, poverty and backwardness. By repudiating the greatest engine of liberation it becomes an hour devoted to anti-humanism. It encourages the sanctimonious gesture of turning off trivial appliances for a trivial amount of time, in deference to some ill-defined abstraction called “the Earth,” all the while hypocritically retaining the real benefits of continuous, reliable electricity. People who see virtue in doing without electricity should shut off their fridge, stove, microwave, computer, water heater, lights, TV and all other appliances for a month, not an hour. And pop down to the cardiac unit at the hospital and shut the power off there too.
I don't want to go back to nature. Travel to a zone hit by earthquakes, floods and hurricanes to see what it’s like to go back to nature. For humans, living in "nature" meant a short life span marked by violence, disease and ignorance. People who work for the end of poverty and relief from disease are fighting against nature. I hope they leave their lights on.
Here in Ontario, through the use of pollution control technology and advanced engineering, our air quality has dramatically improved since the 1960s, despite the expansion of industry and the power supply. If, after all this, we are going to take the view that the remaining air emissions outweigh all the benefits of electricity, and that we ought to be shamed into sitting in darkness for an hour, like naughty children who have been caught doing something bad, then we are setting up unspoiled nature as an absolute, transcendent ideal that obliterates all other ethical and humane obligations. No thanks. I like visiting nature but I don't want to live there, and I refuse to accept the idea that civilization with all its tradeoffs is something to be ashamed of.
At the end of the tax year, the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a local hospital. While the IRS agent was checking the books he turned to the CFO of the hospital and said, "I notice you buy a lot of bandages.
What do you do with the end of the roll when there's too little left to be of any use?"
"Good question," noted the CFO. "We save them up and send them back to the bandage company and every now and then they send us a free box of bandages."
"Oh," replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer. But on he went, in his obnoxious way,,,,
"What about all these plaster purchases? What do you do with what's left over after setting a cast on a patient?"
"Ah, yes," replied the CFO, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question. "We save it and send it back to the manufacturer, and every now and then they send us a free package of plaster."
"I see," replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all CFO. "Well," he went on, "What do you do with all the leftover foreskins from the circumcisions you perform?"
"Here, too, we do not waste," answered the CFO,,,,,,
"What we do is save all the little foreskins and send them to the IRS Office, and about once a year they send us a complete dick."

As the Middle East continues to erupt country by country even as we have now become involved in a sovereign ordeal in Libya we see even stronger and longer-lived regimes see troubles of their own, namely Syria.
As of now none of us know what the people of these nations want, be it democracy or theocracy (we hope the former) but one thing is for sure, they wish to rid themselves of decades and decades of corruption and rule by boots on the neck.
Another situation that becomes clearer everyday is just what lengths these regimes will go to to maintain power and control over entire populations, not that our MSM will show us.

I can say that the title of the tune did indeed grab my attention as it pertains to the current POTUS and as it would seem to the GOP leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives but it is a great tune.

Iran has unveiled an unmanned flying saucer, according to the Fars news agency. Dubbed the Zohal (Saturn), the vertical flyer is designed for aerial imaging and other missions.
Despite the accompanying photo, it's not clear what the Zohal actually looks like, but it may be small as the news release reports it can fly indoors. More at Mail Online.

A Very Happy and Blessed Saint Patrick's Day to you all!
Most who visit here might know somewhat of my heritage but for those who might want to know my Mum was born in Philadelphia, PA of Irish descent and my Dad was born in Ontario, Canada bearing heritage from the Emerald Ilse as well albeit a different family link to the 'old sod' of Ireland, County Clare that is.
This made a combination, in my belief and personal experience, made by God,,,I love and miss them both immensely but remaining here I must carry on,,,,,

I could go on and on about the fun growing up having an Irish heritage but I believe all families of all backgrounds do have fun and as well they should.
But I digress, this is after all about Saint Patrick, and really about the Irish as he made them his cause.
It is said on this day, at least in America, that there are two kinds of Irish;
"Those who are Irish and
those who wish they were"
I tend to agree with that but I define it a tad closer within the group that are of Irish heritage and that is two very distinct group's :
'Shanty Irish' of which I include myself and 'Lace Curtain'which I could and will define for those not familiar with the term as the Kennedy family.
OK, OK,,, I will not follow that path on this day.
On with what might be somewhat an encore of last years CP St. Patrick's Day post,,,,,because I simply love it and hope you do as well.............

But really, those are representative of the music I grew up on around family gatherings be it in the U.S. or Canada. Not 'Bing Crosby', he was talented and had great music but not the real deal when you really want to hear real Irish music.
What I mis the most, being most have passed-on, are family reunion's, what a blast!
Folk's, Irish or not, if you can arrange a family reunion, and that means ALL family, DO IT! You will never, ever regret participation in such an event!

To those that are of the belief the Irish are all about 'drinking', well try the above whilst doing so and your opinion may differ. I think the Irish dancers above could not only pass a sobriety test but rather create a new one, a test that not one person drinking, or not, could pass !

With the very recent 8.9 Earthquake and resulting Tsunami in Japan with the just awful pictures of the aftermath and loss of life it has got this blogger to thinking,,,,,
To those with a mind toward geological and astronomical event's in history, recorded by humans or proved by the same but in absence of at the time we know that:
Our Sun works in cycles of 11 years and we are now seeing it come alive again with Solar storms or Sun Spots which happen to be overdue by 2 years. Logic would suggest that some extra energy needs to be released,,,
Then there is our Moon, that will be the closest to Earth on March 19, 2011 since 1992 , which from our elementary school days we all know of the gravitational forces at work with our relative rock orbiting us just by watching the tide come and go. Not to mention the effect on people themselves (don't go to Madison,WI on the 19th!),,,
It gets better,,,,
NASA, our highly regarded space agency (before the muslim outreach crap) confirms our Sun, being the center of our Solar system, will line-up with the center or 'equator' or 'Galactic Plain' of the Galaxy sometime soon (2012) but also denies any trouble with it, that is when all is aligned. But this in of itself, the denial, denies the force of gravity which is well grounded in real science, thank you Sir Issac Newton.
If the center of our Galaxy is a black hole, which is surmised to be a huge gravitational pulling force when once any object is consumed by it including even light cannot escape, then what happens gravitationally speaking when our Solar system, planets aligned or not, are on the Galaxy's spinning plain?
Think about the photo below, it is not our Milky Way but is representative of the same type of Galaxy. It serves to show that the strongest gravitational force is on just one axis and again logic would suggest that the force is the strongest at the center of that axis otherwise there would not be the symmetrical form.
Those four event's stated above have all been proven to have happened in the past, actually hundreds or thousands of times in the past depending on the event, but the question I raise is how many times have ALL four occurred around same time, or at least within a couple of years of each other, which by the way is not even a split-second of time when considering how old the Universe is?
I do not mean to be an alarmist as there is nothing that can be done except wait and watch but a prayer or two would be in order I believe.
