I had just heard of this possibility via the Coast to Coast radio program and followed their advise to check out a website with more information on the matter called "DNS Changer" Trojan. Once there as promised there are plenty of links with background, possible fixes and even a link to the FBI on this.
Admittedly I am no expert on such matters so maybe someone out there can either confirm this info or set any fears aside which either way would be of public service in my humble opinion.

I saw this on a yahoo news blip last week and was wondering if this is real or WTF?
Randy,,,
On the surface it would seem to be very real.
But again I am not equipped with in-depth knowledge on computer viruses and such and hoping someone of such knowledge chimes in as to the veracity of this subject.
Christopher,
Go HERE to check your computer.
Thank you AOW!
This is the real deal. And anyone who has this thing on their computer Should be shut off from the internet.
Kid,,,
The thing of it is that if one does have it they might not know it and this is why they should take this seriously.
AOW above has graciously provided a link to do just that and I advise all to check it out.
The reason I said what I did was because the description of this says it disables your virus software - so honestly, if you're virus software is disabled and you don't know it, maybe you shouldn't be on the net spreading germs.
Otherwise, agree completely.
